The Dordogne river runs for over 200kms from its source to Bordeaux on the Atlantic coast.

The navigable part of the river begins at Argentat in the heart of the Correze and gently meanders through some of the most fantastic scenery in France ,

Your holiday starts at Argentat – and finishes wherever you want it to! (We collect you from your final destination and bring you back to your car, or the closest railway station if you are travelling by train.)

There are around 40 campsites to choose from strategically placed along the banks of the river, ranging from a riverside field, with minimum facilities, to the 4-and 5-star variety, with pool, restaurant, shop, laundrette, and a shower-block equipped with hairdryers.

You can also camp "wild" on the riverbank, or romantically on an island under the stars. It is possible to cover the whole distance in much less time of course, but we allow plenty of leeway, as there are chateaux and limestone caves to visit, as well as fortified villages and mediaeval churches, or you may just want to swim and lie in the sun .

We provide : a 3-metre inflatable boat and a 2-man tent for every 2 persons, foam sleeping-mats (or bring your own airbeds if you prefer them), small stoves with pans and gas, a pump, a lock and chain, paddles and oars, buoyancy aids, 2 waterproof sacks, a river map, and lots of information. (You can bring your own tent if you prefer, as long as it packs down small enough) Plus, of course, full briefing on what to do, how to do it, and the best places to go.

This is the perfect way to “get away from it all”. No cars, no deadlines – and no hurry!

This year, we also offer a great way to enjoy the river for those people who prefer to stay in hotels rather than campsites. We can arrange for you to raft during the day and relax in the evening in the comfort of a local hotel.
