Solo walking and cycling holidays in France

Solo walkers and cyclists are very welcome on every one of our holidays. You go at your own pace, your luggage is moved on for you, and we’re a call or WhatsApp away throughout.

What it costs on your own

Because the costs aren’t shared, there’s a solo traveller supplement on top of the per-person price. Here’s the standard length of each holiday, with its per-person price and the solo supplement (2027 prices):

HolidayLengthPer person, sharingTravelling solo
Premium Périgord6 days (5 nights)£950+£350 on top of the per-person price
Castles & Caves of the Dordogne8 days (7 nights)£995+£430 on top of the per-person price
France’s Most Beautiful Villages8 days (7 nights)£965+£340 on top of the per-person price
Exploring Rocamadour8 days (7 nights)£975+£340 on top of the per-person price
Ardèche Adventure8 days (7 nights)£985+£450 on top of the per-person price
Cycling in the Dordogne8 days (7 nights)£1,250+£495 on top of the per-person price

Longer versions have their own prices, on each holiday page. The single room supplement is different: it’s for a group in which someone would like a room of their own, for example a group of three.

The support you’ll have

  • Phone and WhatsApp: you’ll have our number throughout your holiday, and we’re on hand from 9am to 7pm, UK or French time, to help with anything, whether it’s a wrong turn, a question about a hotel or a change of plan.
  • Route notes, maps and GPX files: our detailed notes guide you all the way, and the GPX files show you exactly where you are on your phone. Download the maps before you set off and they work even where there’s no signal.
  • Your luggage moved: your bags are taken on to your next hotel each time you change hotel, so they’re waiting when you arrive.
  • Hotels booked: we book every hotel on your route, and dinner is included on most evenings, so there’s a table waiting for you.
  • A taxi if you need one: if you can’t manage a day, call us and we’ll arrange a taxi to your next hotel (you pay the fare locally).

Who it suits

A self-guided holiday on your own suits you if you like going at your own pace and enjoy your own company on the path. Take a wrong turn and you’ll rarely lose more than a few minutes: the GPX track shows the way back. Most people feel completely at home by day two.

French is the language of the route. Most hotels speak some English, but in small villages, shops and cafés you’ll often find they don’t, so a few words of French go a long way.

If you’d like shorter days, Premium Périgord has our shortest walks and stays in just two hotels. For the seven most beautiful villages, see France’s Most Beautiful Villages, and for a bike, Cycling in the Dordogne. Our guide to how fit you need to be compares every holiday’s distances and climbs.
