Hidden gems of the Dordogne

The places I love most on our routes, holiday by holiday.

By Cassie ·

Domme, Sarlat and everything in between

My favourite part of the Dordogne is Domme, Sarlat and everything in between.

You’ll find it on Premium Périgord and on the longer versions of Castles & Caves of the Dordogne.

Premium Périgord

A touch of luxury in the spa at Hôtel Le Périgord, and all the gastronomic experiences!

Castles & Caves of the Dordogne

Exploring the boutique shops in Domme, and kayaking along the ancient Dordogne route.

Domme is on the longer versions of the holiday, as an optional extra day. Kayaking isn’t part of the holiday: it’s something you could do on a free afternoon.

France’s Most Beautiful Villages

The Château de Castelnau on the Loubressac circular walk, and admiring the fairytale village of Beaulieu from the opposite side of the river.

The castle is on the day 7 walks from Loubressac.

Exploring Rocamadour

The Rocamadour circular walk boasts such a contrasting landscape to the other walks, and following the snails crafted into the rocks, which mark the way, is really fun!

Cycling in the Dordogne

The Lascaux caves are a wonderful experience, very cleverly done. Be sure to book your tickets in advance!
